Police raid criminal camps in Anambra, recover IEDs

The Anambra State Police has announced the successful arrest of a criminal gang located in the Ogbunka forest of Orumba South Local Government Area.

This operation took place shortly after an unidentified group set fire to a Police Divisional Headquarters in Neni, Anaocha Local Government Area.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson in Anambra, announced this in Awka on Saturday.

According to him, the joint forces operation, spearheaded by the police, aimed to track down the perpetrators.

During the operation, six Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) set for attacks and two walkie-talkies were discovered in the camps.

Mr Ikenga said that the search for insurgents and their hideouts in the forests was ongoing, with the primary objectives of eliminating the terrorists and rescuing abducted victims as well as retrieving firearms and stolen vehicles in their possession.
