“Politics is about interests” – Doyin Okupe reacts to Daniel Bwala’s appointment

Former presidential media aide Doyin Okupe has reacted to the appointment of Daniel Bwala as the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications.

A statement from the presidency on Thursday, November 14, announced the appointment of the Borno-born lawyer as one of the numerous media aides of the president.

A few weeks ago, the president appointed a former minister of sports, Sunday Dare, as his Special Adviser, Public Communication and Orientation.

Bwala, a former spokesman to Atiku Abubakar, had been a rabid critic of the president, famously saying “Even if you give Tinubu 30 years, he can’t perform.”

But, Okupe, has stated that past criticisms of the president by Bwala are irrelevant, adding that “politics is about interests and not friendship”.

He wrote on X: “I congratulate Daniel Bwala on his appointment as SA on Communication. It is most befitting and highly merited.

“Vance was a hard critic of Trump. Today he is his VP. Affiliations and allegiance change in politics. Truth is politics is not about friendship but about interest.”
