Presidency: Despite Tinubu and Shettima’s absence from the country, there is no leadership vacuum

The Presidency has moved to allay fears of a leadership vacuum following the absence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima from the country.

In a statement released on Wednesday evening, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, said that physical presence is not necessary for the president and vice president to perform their duties.

“The Constitution, a testament to our adaptability in the virtual age, does not explicitly require the physical presence of either the president or the vice president in the country at all times to fulfil his duties,” Onanuga noted.
