Presidential Petition: It is Not Compulsory that Tinubu Should Personally be in Court – Okwonkwo

Spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential campaign and legal representative, Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo has shed light on why Bola Ahmed Tinubu has never been seen in court. He explained that Tinubu is not mandated by the law to appear in court because it’s a civil matter and not a criminal one.

The actor-turned-politician made the clarification during an interview with Aisha Yesufu via her YouTube Channel. He explained that his principal, Peter Obi, is a perfectionist, hence, that’s why he always appears at the court.

In his words: “It is not compulsory that the party (Bola Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu) should be personally be in court. But our principal, Peter Obi has been in court from beginning because if you know him, he is a perfectionist, he has always attended every of his Court Case, and that is good, because that’s called capacity or competence. So, Bola Asiwaju Tinubu is not compelled by law to be preset because he has a right to be represented by his lawyers.”
