Public Documents Are In Possession Of Those Against Whom It Will Be Used In The Courts- Okutepa Says

Mr Jibrin Okutepa, SAN, a council to the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, for Peter Obi, has noted that Nigeria has laws that entitle Nigerians to have access to public documents, but the same documents are presently in possession of those against whom the documents will be used against in the courts.

Speaking further, Mr Okutepa noted that no nation can be great or develop when it’s justice system is rooted in questionable decisions and when the judiciary is not respected by the citizens. He also stated it clearly that Nigeria will only be great when we all agree to make it great.

The Labour Party’s counsel made this disclosure in a tweet he made on his twitter handle, stating it clearly that the justice system in Nigeria needs to be looked into.

In addition, he noted that these public officials frustrate the release of the documents and nothing happened to them, noting that the court is also helpless on the matter.

It should be recalled that Peter Obi’s lawyer recently told the court that the court that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, refused to release the documents used for the conduct of the just concluded presidential election, so as to challenge their case in court.
