Rafael Leão Hails Osimhen: “He Is a Good Friend of Mine”

Portuguese star Rafael Leão has confirmed that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is a good friend of his following his move to Galatasaray.

Leão stated that the Nigerian international is a good friend, which influenced his decision to join the Turkish club over other offers.

In an interview with Forza Cimbom, the forward expressed excitement about playing alongside Osimhen to win the league and compete in the Champions League.

“We had a meeting with Osimhen before the transfer. He’s a very good friend of mine,” the Portuguese star said, via Forza Cimbom.

“Now we’re together, we’ll do good work, we’ll achieve beautiful things, and we’ll achieve big things for Galatasaray! We want to become champions; we want to rise high in Europe.”

Osimhen, who completed a permanent move to the Turkish club, personally contacted Leão during the transfer window to convince him to choose Galatasaray over other European suitors like Aston Villa.

The two previously played together at French club LOSC Lille before becoming rivals in Italy’s Serie A.

Meanwhile, Osimhen scored and set up another goal as Galatasaray came from behind to beat Goztepe 3-2 at RAMS Park on Saturday, lifting the Istanbul club to the top of the Turkish Super Lig after three matches.

Osimhen’s tally now stands at five goals in those three league games, a return that underlines the impact he has had on the side since the campaign began.
