Reactions As EFCC Says Corrupt Politicians Are Planning To Leave Before May 29

According to PUNCH, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has warned that several governors and politicians convicted of corruption have finalised preparations to depart the country before President-elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29, 2023.

Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesperson, said in a statement issued Friday night that the commission is currently working with its overseas partners to frustrate the plans of the alleged governors and politicians to flee to other countries.

The commission promised that all political actors engaging in corruption while in public office would be prosecuted.

The statement reads, “Once again, the Commission wishes to alert the public about the plans of some of the alleged corrupt and politically exposed persons to flee the country before May 29.

“The Commission is working closely with its international partners to thwart these escape plans and bring those responsible to justice.”

As expected, this development elicited reactions on Facebook as it was shared by PUNCH on their official page.

A Facebook user identified as Omini Pascal said, “Then begin to do the needful. Don’t let anyone escape; otherwise, you will be held accountable.”

Zoneh Zee said, “And what are your actions?”
