Rivers State Government Finally Speaks On Resignation Of Four Commissioners From Fubara’s Administration

Four commissioners have resigned from the State Executive Council of Rivers State under Governor Siminalayi Fubara:

* George Kelly, Commissioner for Works
* Henry Ogiri, Commissioner of Power
* Prof. Zacchaeus Adango, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice
* Isaac Kamalu, Commissioner for Finance

Kelly and Ogiri’s resignations followed their federal government appointments. Adango and Kamalu resigned after being redeployed to different positions within the administration.

Governor Fubara reassigned Prof. Adango to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) and transferred Commissioner Kamalu to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.

However, both Adango and Kamalu rejected the redeployments, citing political concerns.

Adango expressed his decision to maintain his integrity and referenced past interference in his duties as Attorney General. Kamalu criticized the state’s progress on peace and disputed the governor’s claims of revenue improvements.

The Rivers State Government acknowledged the resignations but stated that they would not impact the administration. The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson, emphasized the government’s respect for the appointees’ decisions and reaffirmed their commitment to the peace deal initiated by President Ahmed Tinubu.
