Ruto is Not Serious, ODM Politician Agitated Over Ruto’s List of MPs to Face Azimio

Hours after President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza team held its Parliamentary Group meeting and later nominated a list of seven MPs to face Azimio in bipartisan talks, the list seems to have annoyed a section of Azimio supporters and leaders.

Among those who have expressed displeasure on Ruto’s list are vocal Azimio defender and former ODM party candidate in Murang’a senatorial race Kinuthi Pius. Through his Twitter page, the seemingly agitated Kinuthia accused Ruto, claiming that he is not serious with the dialogue.

According to Kinuthia, the list of nominated leaders are a clear indication that Ruto is not serious about talks with the opposition. He said his list lacks seriousness and commitment and that he selected them just for the sake of it.

This was after Kenya Kwanza selected a team of leaders who have been described by many as “less known MPs, Senators”.

Among those nominated include Senator Boni Khalwale (Kakamega), Hillary Sigei (Bomet), Okenyuri (Nominated), MPs Murugara (Tharaka), Mutuse (Kibwezi W.), Keynan (Eldas), and Haika (Taita Taveta).

The same seemed to have been echoed by vocal Azimio defender Disembe Dikembe who also wondered over the list.

It is a press conference that saw Ruto and his deputy Gachagua miss. The two deligated the duties to announce their deliberations to Kimani Ichungwa and Aaron Cheruiyot.

Ichungwa, while addressing Azimio’s demands to reinstate Cherera four, said there’s no law allowing the return of IEBC commissioners who resign willingly. He instead asked Azimio to move to S. Court to seek ‘opening of IEBC servers’

“The Opposition can go back to the Supreme Court if they have any issues with the Servers” stated Kimani Ichung’wah

On his part, Aaron Cheruiyot expressed concerns about fruitful talks, saying they will not take in all the advice offered to them by Azimio. He said Azimio is responsible for the mess that the government is currently undergoing.

“We find it rather difficult to take advice from the very people that put us in the mess we are in today. we resist the attempts by the opposition to force or blackmail the gov’t to implement failed policies of the last regime that drove the country into an economic mess.” Cheruiyot said

Kenya Kwanza’s Parliamentary Group directed its team nominated in the bipartisan process to strictly adhere to our Constitution in addressing the reconstitution of the IEBC panel.
