Sanwo-Olu Assures Lagos Youth of Opportunities at 2025 Job Fair

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed that Lagos youth remain central to the state’s development agenda.
Represented by Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso, the Governor described the 2025 Lagos State Job Fair at Blue Roof, Lagos Television, Ikeja, on Thursday as proof of the government’s commitment to inclusive economic growth.
He highlighted the fair’s theme, “Your Career, Your Way: Explore Endless Possibilities,” noting that it matches the ambitions of young Lagosians. Participants were encouraged to pursue careers that leverage their strengths while contributing to the prosperity of the state.
Under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Development Agenda, youth empowerment remains a key priority. The government continues to invest in skills acquisition, vocational training, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship support, ensuring young people have the tools to thrive.
Over 300 firms, 5,000 job seekers take centre stage
The fair drew more than 300 organisations across ICT, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, media, and the creative industries. Over 5,000 young job seekers, graduates, and entrepreneurs attended, making it one of the largest youth employment events in Lagos.
Honourable Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, said the fair is more than an event. It’s a lifeline and promise kept by the administration. “We are building a platform where talent meets opportunity,” he added.
Over the past four years, the Ministry has created 200,000 jobs through initiatives like the Graduate Internship Placement Programme, vocational training centres, and the new Leather Hub in Mushin, turning creativity into enterprise.
Billions disbursed, thousands empowered
Ajigbotafe revealed that billions of naira have been disbursed through the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund to small businesses, startups, and young entrepreneurs. These investments have enabled them to create more jobs and expand economic opportunities across the state.
Permanent Secretary, Esv. Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka, praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his visionary leadership, and lauded the Commissioner, panellists, and partners for making the fair a success.
Panel discussions featured top officials, including Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas (Chairman, Lagos State Civil Service Commission) and Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment and Training), providing guidance and insights to participants.
