The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has approved the appointment of two Assistant Corps Marshals (ACMs) of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) as Deputy Corps Marshals (DCMs).
A statement on Thursday by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Olusegun Ogungbemide, confirmed the appointments.
It said that the appointment was for the South East and North East geopolitical zones.
Ogungbemide said the appointments were part of a decisive move aimed at strengthening leadership depth, enhancing operational effectiveness, and consolidating national road safety management.
He said: “The newly appointed officers are DCM Hyginus Omeje, who is currently the Head of the Operations Department, and DCM Mark Sabiya, who is in charge of the Department of Finance and Accounts, both at the FRSC National Headquarters.
“The decision was guided by the need to deploy experienced, disciplined and performance-oriented officers to strategic command positions.
“This is in order to strengthen national road safety management and improve service delivery to Nigerians.”
Reacting to the development, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, described the appointments as a well-considered and timely intervention.
This, Mohammed said, would help reinforce the Corps’ leadership architecture at a critical moment in the country’s road safety journey.
He said the two officers had distinguished themselves through decades of exemplary service, operational excellence and commitment to the ideals of the Corps.
The Corps Marshal expressed confidence that their elevation would significantly enhance command effectiveness, stakeholder engagement and the execution of targeted safety interventions nationwide.
He further charged the newly appointed Deputy Corps Marshals to bring their wealth of experience to bear in addressing traffic management and road safety challenges across their respective zones.
Mohammed said the appointments were with immediate effect.
