Shehu Blasts Tinubu: You Acted Out of Fear of a Coup, Not Insecurity
Former presidential aide Garba Shehu criticizes President Bola Tinubu, saying his recent actions were driven by fear of a coup rather than insecurity concerns.
A public affairs analyst, Mahdi Shehu, has blasted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his recent reshuffling of Nigeria’s service chiefs, claiming the decision was driven by personal political interests rather than the country’s worsening insecurity.
Shehu, in a post on his official handle on Saturday, argued that fear of a possible coup, not rising violence, prompted the President’s action.
Scriptural Insight on Selfish Ambition
Shehu referenced James 3:16, saying, “For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.”
He argued that Tinubu’s decision reflects the timeless nature of man’s selfishness, linking it to greed, political ambition, and personal survival instincts.
Ignored Security Threats Nationwide
According to Shehu, the President had previously taken little action despite the alarming rise in violence across states such as Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, Yobe, Borno, Benue, Taraba, Kogi, and Nasarawa.
Mass kidnappings, killings, and attacks on villages did not, in his view, compel Tinubu to overhaul the nation’s security leadership.
Panicked Action Over Coup Speculations
Shehu insisted that the reshuffle only came after rumors of a coup.
Describing the alleged plot as “shrouded in darkness and left to interpretation,” he said Tinubu acted swiftly and panicked, prioritizing his political survival over national security.
Shehu wrote: “TINUBU’S SURVIVAL INSTINCTS:
MAN IS INDEED SELFISH:
RESHUFFLING OF SERVICE CHIEFS
CONFIRMS MANS SELFISHNESS.
James 3:16
” For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice”.
1. The scriptural references to man’s selfishness is well succinctly narrated and documented with visible confirmation by man himself.
2. Man’s greed and insatiable economic desires gave further credence to the scriptural references to man’s infinite capacity for selfishness.
3. Man’s selfish political survival instincts by way of his calculations and miscalculations are so obvious even to the most naive soul.
4. TINUBU have just displayed man’s selfishness and survival instincts in the panicky sacking of service chief . Just recall the following situations:
* The On going wanton killings nationwide did not PRICK Tinubu’s conscience to rejing his security architecture.
*The increasingly unending kidnappings for ransom and killings in the process did not WAKE Tinubu from his slumber to tinker with security architecture for better results.
* The daily sacking and killings of hundreds of villages and villagers in Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, Yobe, borno States was not enough reason for Tinubu to have the COURAGE to sack the service chiefs.
* The mass killings in Benue, Taraba, kogi and Nasarawa states were INCONSQUENTIAL to Tinubu and too minute to be enough reasons to sack the service chiefs. Etc etc etc
5. GBAM !!!!!. But Tinubu was swift and acted panicky by sacking and reassigning the service chiefs immediately “HIS BRAND OF DEMOCRACY” came under an officially denied coup, yet an officially confirmed coup, a coup shrouded in DARKNESS and hide and seek, a coup left to everybody’s imaginations and interpretation. A coup with more PHANTOM manifestations.
With 139 Million Nigerians facing abject poverty and hunger and other gory economic failures, Tinubu is yet to sack his “WIZARDLY” economic teams.
Man is indeed selfish even on the face of glaring failures until such a time when he is subsumed by the mother earth.”
