Shehu Sani Responds After Tinubu Vowed Not To Pay Ransom To Bandits, For The Release Of School Pupils

In an attempt to win the release of the kidnapped schoolchildren, former senator Shehu Sani, who stood in for the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, has reacted to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pledge not to pay ransom to the kidnappers.

In response, Senator Shehu Sani stated that ransom payments in Nigeria incite kidnapping and that abductions will cease if ransom payments cease. He continued by pointing out that kidnappers are fed by ransom. He went on to say that paying a ransom puts one’s own life at jeopardy while simultaneously saving another’s.

Senator Shehu Sani made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Friday afternoon, while reacting to the statement that was recently made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Sani went on and made it known that it’s very difficult to convince the families of hostages not to pay ransom, when the lives of their loved ones are at risk, noting that bandits and terrorists are evil forces that must be annihilated. He noted that the country must find a way to prevent kidnappings as much as possible.

He wrote: “Payment of Ransom encourages kidnapping in this country. When payment of ransom stops, abduction stops. Ransom feeds the monster of kidnapping. Paying ransom saves some lives and endangers others.

“But it’s difficult to convince the families of hostages not to pay ransom when the lives of their loved ones are at risk. Bandits and terrorists are thoroughly evil forces that must be annihilated. We must find a way to prevent kidnappings as much as possible.”

Recall that it was reported yesterday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, vowed not to pay ransom to kidnappers to secure the release of the school children and other people Kidnapped in the country.
