The Niger State Police Command says it has arrested a 35- year- old Zuwaira Usman of Pandogari, Rafi local government of the state, accused of transporting ammunition to bandits and other criminal elements in the state.
She was arrested based on information which linked her to bandits and other hoodlums ,who she ammunition.
The state police command in a statement in Minna yesterday, byNiger state police public relation officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said thesuspect admitted to the crime, saying that she was running an errand for one Lawali of Birnin Gwari in Kaduna state.
In her confessional statement, the suspect claimed that she met the said Lawali in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna State, within the month of September, 2025,where they exchanged phone numbers.
According to her, in the course of their interaction, Lawali requested her to travel to Warri, Delta State, to collect a package for him, adding that Lawali gave her N20,000 as transportation and she proceeded on the journey.
However, she narrated further that on getting to Abuja, Lawali spoke with the driver and informed them where she would be dropped in Warri.
Zuwaira claimed that on getting to her destination, she met a man on a motorcycle, who gave her a sack which contained a flask with some items to deliver to Lawali.
She gave the name of the man as Ahmed, and who equally gave her additional N30,000 for her transport back to Kaduna.
She said she took the item and returned to Abuja, and from Abuja to Kaduna, enroute to Birnin Gwari where she delivered the items.
She claimed that it was in Birnin-Gwari, at the point of the delivery that she discovered that a total of 2,500 AK-47 ammunition were contained in the flask she delivered to Lawali.
Meanwhile, the police said that already, the said Ahmed had been intercepted and arrested in Delta State, while effort is ongoing to arrest Lawali, as investigation is intensified.
In another development, the police disclosed that it has apprehended a suspect in Kontagora, headquarters of Kontagora local government area of the state who specialized in kidnapping children for ransom.
The police gave the names of the suspect as 25 years old Aminu Ahmed who based in Kontagora.
The suspect was apprehended based on technical intelligence received for abduction/kidnapping of three children in Kotangora, and receiving sum of over two million naira
“In the course of investigation, the suspect revealed that within January 2025, he took a boy of about three years around Samaru, Kontagora which he abducted for four days and traveled with him to Lagos.
“He confessed that during his journey, he contacted the father of the victim and requested for N10 millionransom, and he later received N1.4million through different POS points before returning the boy to a location around a radio station in Kontagora as a missing and found child, while he escaped”.
However, in continuation of his escapades, he again abducted another four years old boy in May this year within same Kontagora, and took him to Lagos and stayed for three days after which he contacted the family of the victim and requested for another N10 million ransom.
He later received N5000,000before returning to dropthe boy at a location within Mashegu LG, a distance of about 150 kilometers from Kontagora where he abducted the child.
He later informed the parents where to pick up their child.
Equally too in November, he picked another three year-old -boy from Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Kontagora and took him to Ilorin, Kwara State, where he stayed for three days before contacting the father, demanding for N5 million ransom.
He later received N350, 000before dropping the victim in Kaboji, Mashegu LG.
He further claimed that he was duped of over #1.8m proceeds of crime, during a business of mining investment he did.
