Tragedy Strikes Again: Nollywood Star Junior Pope’s Father Passes Away Just a Year After His Son’s Fatal Accident
In heartbreaking news, the father of the late Nollywood actor Junior Pope, Ozor Luke Odonwodo, has passed on. This devastating loss comes exactly one year after Junior Pope himself tragically drowned in a boat accident in April 2024, while returning from a film shoot in Anambra State.
Senior Odonwodo’s death was announced by his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Awele Odonwodo, via Instagram on Wednesday. She shared that she had recently visited him in Enugu just weeks before his passing, never imagining it would be their final goodbye.
Jennifer described Ozor Luke as a man who truly loved her, expressing deep gratitude for their fleeting moments together and reminiscing about the loving bond they shared.
She wrote emotionally:
“Just a few weeks ago, I was with you in Enugu… days later, I received a call from Reme (my mother-in-law), asking how I and the boys are doing, then breaking the heartbreaking news that he had gone to meet the Lord. I was stunned, but I quickly composed myself as she broke down crying.
He was a man who genuinely loved me — a noble octogenarian who lived well, paid his dues, made sacrifices for his family, and enjoyed the fruits of his labor.
Reme, my dear mother-in-law, this has been an overwhelming year for us all, but I pray God grants us strength to carry on, no matter how difficult it gets.
Rest in peace, father and son… your legacies will live forever. Though we mourn deeply, we cling to hope in God’s promises of resurrection in John 5:28-29 and Acts 24:15.
