Soludo Responds to Rumors About Obiano’s Death: What You Need to Know

The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has dismissed widespread social media rumours alleging the death of former Governor Willie Obiano.

In a statement on Friday signed by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo described the report that Obiano died in a London hospital as “malicious and utterly false.”

The governor said he had personally reached out to Obiano and could confirm that the former governor was alive and in good health.

“I view with grave concern the reckless circulation of such malicious rumours. It is both wicked and completely irresponsible,” Soludo said.

He urged media practitioners, especially online platforms, to verify sensitive information before publishing.

“The spread of unverified death rumours is not only wicked and irresponsible but also erodes public trust,” he warned.

Soludo appealed to residents to ignore the trending report, assuring that Obiano remained “hale and hearty.” He also wished the former governor “continued strength, peace and a long, fulfilling life.”
Former Commissioner Also Confirms Obiano Is Alive

Former Anambra Commissioner for Information under Obiano, C-Don Adinuba, also debunked the rumour, noting that the former governor currently resides in Houston, United States, not London.

Adinuba stated, “Contrary to the reports, Obiano is not in London and has not been hospitalised. He is strong, hale, and hearty, and bouncing in the US. Ignore the rumour, it is not from a credible source. Please, the report is fake; Obiano is still alive.”

Obiano, who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, succeeded Peter Obi and handed over to Soludo in March 2022.
