Godwin Emefiele was granted bail on Wednesday and was able to leave the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) building in Maitama, Abuja, accompanied by his attorneys.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) agents, some of whom were armed, reportedly escorted the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to court. Emefiele was wearing a cap and a light green traditional attire. This information was reported by The Nation.

It was reported that after the ruling by Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, which granted him bail and handed him over to his legal team, the anti-corruption agents withdrew, allowing Emefiele to be accompanied by his lawyers and family members. They guided him from the courtroom to a black Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) positioned near the court’s main entrance.

However, an eyewitness, who was present in the court during the hearing, while talking to The Nation correspondent said, “As he walked from the third floor (where the courtroom is located) to the ground floor and into the waiting car, some of them called him unprintable names and charged at him.”

Further talking, he said, “His lawyers and some family members around promptly assisted him into the waiting car, owned by one of the lawyers and hurriedly drove out of the court’s premises.”
