Sowore Reacts After Tinubu Announces Removal Of Fuel Subsidy, Says It Has Triggered Fuel Scarcity

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, responded to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement that his government will eliminate the fuel subsidy.

At a ceremony held at Abuja’s Eagle Square today, outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari officially transferred power to incoming Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A former governor of Lagos State and current leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, defeated Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party to win the country’s top political office.

Peter Obi, candidate for president of the Labour Party, and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, candidate for president of the People’s Democratic Party, are both contesting Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja. Two weeks ago, the Presidential Election Tribunal began hearing arguments from both sides.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu promised in his inaugural address to end fuel subsidies under his administration. A recent event that has been met with a variety of responses from prominent Nigerians.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s thoughtless fuel subsidy removal announcement has already triggered fuel scarcity in Lagos!” remarked Omoyele Sowore in response to the news.
