Alexis Ortega has passed away at the age of 38. Ortega was a voice actor best known for his work on the Spider-Man movies, where he provided the Latin American Spanish dub for Tom Holland’s performances. There has currently been no information provided regarding the cause of Ortega’s death.
Beyond his work as Spider-Man, Ortega also worked on other Disney and Star Wars projects.
The news of Ortega’s passing was initially released via “ALDA Awards” on social media, where a statement was issued.
“We regret to inform you of the sensitive passing of actor Alexis Ortega. We send our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues in the industry,” the statement read. “Rest in peace, and we will always remember him in his incredible performances.”
Spanish outlet, El Mundo, followed up by listing some of Ortega’s most popular works.
“He was mainly recognized for being the Latin Spanish voice of Spiderman in the character’s early appearances portrayed by Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” El Mundo reported. “His performances in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018) solidified him as a beloved figure for generations of fans who grew up listening to his voice.”
Alexis Ortega Also Enjoyed an Acting Career
Outside of his role as a Latin American Spanish voice actor, Ortega also enjoyed an acting career. According to IMDB, he held roles in Luis Miguel: The Series and La Casa de las Flores.
In total, Ortega had four acting credits to his name, with another in post-production. He plays the role of Carlo in El Segundo Piso, which is listed as a short but has yet to be released.
In more recent times, Ortega had also lent his voice to the dubbing of popular online content. As reported by Suggest, he’s recently worked on some Spanish dubs of Mr Beast’s YouTube videos.
Due to the lack of information surrounding his passing, Ortega’s family will undoubtedly wish to have their privacy respected.
