Super Eagles: Experts Urge Caution on Early Call-Up for Fashanu Michael — ‘It’s a Long Shot’

Trivela coordinator, Pedro Ramos, has urged caution over the growing excitement surrounding Nigerian forward Fashanu Michael.

The 20-year-old forward has been linked with a potential call-up to the Super Eagles following his recent exploits in Brazil.

Fashanu recently made headlines after scoring seven goals and providing two assists to help Fortaleza U-20 to league success in the Brazilian youth division.

His performances have sparked conversations in a section of the Nigerian football community about his readiness for senior international football.

Ramos on Fashanu Michael’s Super Eagles Call

However, speaking exclusively to Soccernet.ng from Brazil, Ramos tempered expectations, noting that Fashanu is yet to feature for the senior team and still has steps to take in his career journey.

“He only played for Fortaleza U-20. Not a single match for the first team all year,” Ramos said.
“Fortaleza is battling against relegation in the Brazilian league, and he has little chance to have a first-team opportunity right now. So I think for the Super Eagles, it’s a long shot.”

Ramos, who oversees editorial operations for Trivela Brazil, added that while the Nigerian youngster has shown promise since moving from Dynamic Plus Soccer Academy, he still needs time to establish himself at club level before earning a senior international invitation.

Fashanu’s steady rise continues to highlight the growing pathway between Nigerian academies and Brazilian football, with many observers hopeful that he can build on his early success to reach higher levels in the near future.
