Tears As Police Discover Decomposing Body Of Missing Pastor And Wife

Four days following an attack on a bus that resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, the decomposed bodies of a pastor affiliated with the African Church and his wife were discovered in the bush along Maraba Baisa in the Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State on Saturday.

Their 13-month-old baby remains missing.

Pastor Kumator Jacob Aba had been reported missing on Wednesday after departing from his church in Bali, the headquarters of Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.

He was en route to attend the church’s congress in Donga, traveling on a motorcycle with his wife and their 13-month-old baby.

Concerns arose among church members when Pastor Aba failed to arrive at the congress, compounded by anxieties stemming from recent killings along the Maraba Baisa Bali Road.

Chief David Gbaa, the Head of Tiv traditional rulers in Taraba State, also known as the Ter Bali, revealed that the bodies of the couple were discovered in the bush near Maraba Baisa while youths and security personnel were conducting a search to locate them.

Chief Gbaa further explained that upon discovering the bodies, the police were notified to ensure proper documentation and records before the bodies were evacuated to the morgue.

Pastor Jacob Aba served as the pastor of the African Church at Adi Parish in Bali. His failure to reach the church’s congress in Donga raised concerns among parish pastors and the Tiv Community, especially given the ongoing violence in the Maraba area.

Consequently, a search operation was initiated, culminating in the discovery of the decomposed bodies of Pastor Aba and his wife in the bush on Saturday, March 16th.

Regrettably, their 13-month-old baby remains missing, and the motorcycle they had used for their journey has yet to be located.

The police accompanied the search party to the scene and assisted in evacuating the bodies.

Despite attempts to reach out to the Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP David Iloyonomon, for comment on the incident, there was no response.
