President Bola Tinubu has launched the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal Fund at the Council Chambers of the State House.
The president made the launch during a ceremony on Tuesday.
Tinubu used the opportunity to praise the Armed Forces for their crucial role in protecting Nigeria, highlighting their efforts in combating threats to national security.
The Nigerian leader said security is essential for promoting peace and development, and the Armed Forces’ commitment to Nigeria’s unity, stability, and progress is invaluable.
In appreciation of the fallen heroes’ contributions to national security, several top officials made donations. Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, pledged N500 million on behalf of government officials. President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, donated N200 million on behalf of the National Assembly. Chief Defence Staff, CDS Christopher Musa, announced a donation of N50 million on behalf of the service chiefs and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
