Governor Wike has continued to attack the presidential candidate of the PDP as well as the national chairman of the party regarding the step they took many months ago that eventually produced Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the PDP.
While all presidential aspirants who took part in the PDP primary many months ago had bought forms and filled out other necessary documents before the election, at the venue of the presidential primary, some incidents occurred. Wike, the governor of Rivers state was one of those who took part in the primary.
Before the commencement of the primary, Wike had vowed to support whoever wins the presidential primary election of the PDP irrespective of what may happen. A few minutes after his statement, the governor of Sokoto state told delegates to vote for Atiku in other for the former vice president to emerge as a PDP candidate.
Despite his promises, Wike alongside a few members of the PDP has asked the chairman of the party to resign as the chairman of the party and the presidential candidate of the party can not come from the same regions.
Wike also claimed that Atiku Abubakar once told him that Iyorchia Ayu would resign once he wins the PDP ticket.
At the same time, the Rivers state governor revealed that Iyorchia Ayu told PDP members he would step down if the PDP produces a northerner as a presidential candidate.
