The Fact That They Declined To Accept The New Evidence That Was Presented To Them Is Interesting, Says Segun Sowunmi

Segun Sowunmi, a member of the PDP, said that it’s interesting that the Supreme Court decided not to accept the new evidence that was presented before them after the court’s decision to uphold President Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election.

In an interview with TVC, Sowunmi said that although they might be worried about the use of discretionary power, they are prepared to accept decisions made using this authority. He did, however, voice his disapproval of the president’s response to the ruling.

According to him, “It’s interesting to see that they chose (It was their discretion) not to accept that new evidence that was presented before them, and we will just say once a discretionary power is given either to INEC when it also chose not to transmit election results in the way it had Promised, and the discretionary power is also granted to the Supreme Court as to rules of how it accept new evidence, and does not accept new evidence, we can live with the judgments, we can really live with it, but for anybody to now, especially the President, in a bid to react to that judgement, to use indecorous unpresidential languages like shenanigans and such, you just say oh indeed, how the mighty fallen, what a great nation which used to be great and has the potential to be great in the future.”
