Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed has initiated legal proceedings by filing a suit in the Zamfara High Court seeking an ex parte order that would permit the convening of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

This is despite an existing injunction from the Federal High Court in Abuja that prohibits the removal of the party’s acting national chairman, Umar Damagum.

The move indicates the deepening rift within the PDP, as internal divisions become increasingly pronounced.

Mohammed who is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, aims to bypass the federal court’s restrictions in a bid to assert the governors’ influence over the party’s leadership.

The call for an NEC meeting indicates a push for urgent discussions regarding the party’s future and leadership structure, particularly in light of the recent state congresses.
