“The Justices Made One Thing Clear About 25% FCT Requirement.

The question posed by the Supreme Court Justices during their explanation of whether a candidate needs to receive at least twenty-five percent of the votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in order to win a presidential election has been shared by Abayomi Arabambi, the Labour Party’s factional national publicity secretary.

During an interview with Silverbird TV, Arabambi stated that the Justices presented a hypothetical situation where a candidate wins in 36 states during a presidential election, but fails to get up to 25 percent of the votes cast in the FCT and they asked whether such a candidate should be prevented from becoming president.

In Arabambi’s words: “The Justices made one thing clear about 25% FCT requirement, they said if someone won in 36 states of the federation and he did not have 25 percent in Abuja, so they should not declare that person as the president? It was just a simple question that they asked them. Those judges are not boys, they are people who are thoroughly bred so people that don’t know how to pursue their case should go and learn how to do it”.
