The Supreme Court Declared Atiku Was Unable To Demonstrate That He Received More Votes Than Tinubu

Sahara Reporters claims that President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election was upheld by the Nigerian Supreme Court. The appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar to contest the Presidential Election Petition Court’s decision was denied.

John Okoro, the panel’s presiding justice, declared that Atiku was unable to provide evidence that he received more votes than President Tinubu. There were not enough precise numbers in Atiku’s appeal to refute Tinubu’s score and show that the votes were not distributed correctly.

The Supreme Court affirmed that the declared results provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were the basis for its judgment. The court emphasized that the success or failure in an election depends on figures, which must be clearly pleaded in an election petition.

President Tinubu, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the president-elect by INEC, with 8,794,726 votes. Atiku received 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) received 6,101,533 votes.
