They are adults, some are married, FG’s lawyer speaks on arraignment of minors in court

Rimazonte Ezekiel, the counsel representing the Federal Government in the trial of the #EndBadGovernance protesters has denied claims that minors were arraignment before a court in Abuja.

Reacting to the outrage over the arraignment of underage and malnourished-looking defendants, Ezekiel said all those brought to court were adults.

He also stated that most of the malnourished children seen during the arraignment that got most Nigerians and leaders angry were married.

His words, “These boys that we brought to the court today are all adults. Most of them are married men, None of them is a minor.’

“Some of them are university graduates, the small small kids you are seeing here, they came with some of their parents to come and see their loved ones. They are not even the real suspects standing trial in this case.

“These boys were arrested in Kaduna and Zaria. Imagine the level we find ourselves now, do you know what it cost us to be at this level of democracy?” Ezekiel queried.

According to Ezekiel, the boys were arrested while trying to destabilize the nation during the protest which took place between August 1 and August 10.

He said, “These young boys are trying to destabilize Nigeria, using the Russian flag and other countries, calling on the military to remove our president.

“Is it fair, to even remove state governors because you don’t want democracy again?” He added.
