For all teams, the IPL 2023 auction will be essential in deciding which players to keep and who to release. However, the five-time champion Mumbai Indians (MI) did not have a successful season the previous time around. The team under Rohit Sharma’s leadership only managed to win four league games and were placed last in the points table.
Ahead of the mini auctions set to be held in the third week of December for IPL 2023 according to reports we look at the three players which MI must retain.
Jasprit Bumrah is one player whose retention by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 auction is all but inevitable. He misleads even the best batters in the world with his unconventional bowling style and short run-up. Many bowlers cannot equal his death bowling abilities. He has continuously delivered and helped Mumbai succeed since his arrival in 2013. If he is fit and Archer is available they would make a terrific bowling combination.
As these numbers suggest Tim David has been exceptional in T20s in 2022. He has a low dot ball percentage and scores quickly in the end overs. He is a perfect replacement for Pollard as he can give an over or two when needed and is an exceptional fielder as well.
SKY did not play all the games for MI in the last season and that was one of the reasons MI had a horrible season. Since 2018, Yadav has been a terrific batter for MI. If MI is thinking of its future it should definitely retain SKY. As these numbers suggest SKY must definitely be in the XI at all times for MI.
