Thugs storm Ondo, Edo community, fire gunshots at residents

With the ongoing governorship election in Ondo State, there have been reported gunshots by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

The gunmen were said to have been firing shots in Ofosun Village, an Ondo community at the boundary with Edo State as the election was ongoing.

Sources within the community said that while they are not certain about who could have led the attack, residents have been forced to stay indoors.

The source said, “We don’t know who they are but they were firing gunshots into the air in some parts of the village since early morning.

“Ofosun is an Ondo village close to Benin in Edo State. No casualty, but people in the village are staying indoors,” the source added.

Reacting to the incident, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Festus Akingbaso condemned the attack.

He, however, commended residents over their turnout during the election.
