Tinubu Appoint New MDs of FAAN, NAMA 4 others, Sacks and replaces them

The six managing directors and directors general of parastatals in the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development were fired by President Tinubu on Wednesday in a decisive move.

Aligned with his Renewed Hope Agenda, the action is to bring Nigerian civil aviation up to par with international standards, emphasizing passenger welfare, consumer protection, and addressing the industry’s underperformance.

According to Punch, in a press statement signed by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Ajuri Ngelale, the affected directors include Mr. Tayib Adetunji Odunowo of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, and Akinola Olateru of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau.

Other affected individuals include Captain Alkali Mahmud Modibbo of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Professor Mansur Bako Matazu of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, and Captain Musa Shuaibu Nuhu of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.

The statement announced significant replacements, including Mr. Joseph Shaka Imalighwe as the Acting Rector of NCAT, Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku as the new Managing Director of FAAN, Mr. Alex Badeh Jr. as the Director-General of NSIB, Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk as the Managing Director of NAMA, and Professor Charles Anosike as the Director-General of NIMET.

Moreover, Captain Musa Shuaibu Nuhu, the Director-General of the NCAA, has been suspended to allow the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the activities of him and other senior officials. Captain Chris Najomo assumes the role of Acting Director-General immediately.

Tinubu also approved the commencement of a diligent process led by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to recruit a substantive Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers for the African Aviation and Aerospace University.

He emphasized the new leadership’s duty to prioritize the safety, convenience, and comfort of the Nigerian people in all administrative activities across the sector.
