Tinubu Dismisses Budget Padding Allegations, Says Those Criticising Don’t Understand Its Arithmetic

President Bola Tinubu has responded for the first time to allegations of budget padding by Senator Abdul Ningi, asserting that those making such claims do not understand the budget arithmetic.

Tinubu emphasized his grasp of the budget numbers he presented to the Senate for the 2024 financial estimate and the subsequent passage.

Addressing lingering concerns during a special Iftar with the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and other senators, Tinubu expressed gratitude for the Senate’s cooperation and expeditious handling of the budget. He assured the leadership of the Senate that the integrity of the National Assembly must remain intact.

Tinubu also conveyed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its current security and economic challenges, affirming that the nation was on the verge of a turnaround. He emphasized the need for prudent financial management and expressed optimism that Nigerians would soon experience economic relief.

Reiterating his commitment to national prosperity and security, Tinubu stressed the importance of cooperation in advancing the nation’s interests. He lauded the efforts of lawmakers in supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda, pledging to work together towards a brighter future for all Nigerians.
