Tinubu Should Apologize to Nigerians, Says Bakare
The Lead Pastor of the Citadel Global Community Church and former presidential aspirant, Tunde Bakare, has urged President Bola Tinubu to publicly apologise to communities devastated by insecurity.
Naija News reports that Bakare made the call on Sunday during his State of the Nation Address in Lagos.
He said the gesture would mark a commitment to justice and national healing.
According to the cleric, the president had taken initial steps to address the crisis but insisted that deeper action was required to restore confidence.
He said the government must first accept responsibility for decades of failure to protect citizens from terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes.
Bakare said the plan should include a Victims and Survivors Register, a national apology to affected communities after three months, and midterm compensation, stressing that accountability is crucial to restoring public trust and ending the cycle of violence.
Meanwhile, Bakare alleged that the United States President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) because of his interest in the country’s oil.
He claimed that Trump’s administration considers Nigeria’s oil wealth, other mineral resources and critical sectors such as real estate as central to its agenda.
He recalled that shortly after Trump won the 2024 US election, he received a vision in which the American leader arrived in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, aboard Air Force One, “dressed in Arabian thobe and ghutra” and declaring, “We are here now.”
He said the revelation signalled a “particular interest” Trump would take in Nigeria linked to Middle East politics, oil and gas, real estate, and the country’s expanding technology sector.
