Tinubu Will Do Well In Abuja, Says FCTA

Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) through the coordinator of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Umar Shuaibu, has said that the incoming administration of President-elect Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu will continue with aggression, the achievements of outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari in the development of the FCT.

Shuaibu who made this known while speaking with journalists in Abuja yesterday, said there is a lot of infrastructure projects that were built by the current administration which would have taken double the period that the APC took to achieve them if it were the previous governments.

He bragged that Tinubu is going to complement and make sure that they continue on the same speed, same tenacity, and same standard to which they provide infrastructure.

Asiwaju being the type of person that we know, being his (Tinubu’s) antecedent, we know it’s going to be pursued with more aggression to make sure that we give more dividends of democracy,” he said.

The coordinator hailed the proven governance attitude of Tinubu, who is a former two-term governor of Lagos State, saying he will bathe the country with projects mixed with good governance.

Stakeholders Demand Probe Into Allocation To Chibok Girls’ Families, Sustained Reportage

Stakeholders have demanded accountability from the government on the funds allocated to the families of the abducted Chiboks girls.

They also charged the media to keep issues surrounding the abduction of Chibok girls on the front burner as constant reminders to the authorities.

The call was made in Abuja on Saturday during the screening of the documentary “Nine Years: Life after the Chibok Abduction”, produced by Women Radio.

The documentary featured an abducted girl, parents and siblings of some of the abducted girls who lamented the inconsistency of the government in reaching out to them. The documentary showed that about 37 parents have died largely because of trauma caused by the abduction of their children.

The panelists called on President Muhammadu Buhari to use the federal government might to bring the girls back.

In her submission, Bukky Shonibare, Executive Director of Invictus Africa, urged the media to leverage their visibility around the nine-point agenda of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement in demanding accountability from the government. Shonibare urged the media to “beam the spotlight on the funds allocated for the families and how they should be expended and the need for continuity on the Safe School Initiative.”

I Performed Better In Office Than Lalong, Says Jang

Former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang has said he stands out in a class of his own when his tenure is compared with the out-going administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under Governor Simon Lalong in eight years. Jang said he left the landscape of Plateau dotted with legacy projects.

In a statement issued in Jos by his media consultant Clinton Garuba , the former governor said he remained vocal in defence of his people throughout his tenure despite what he called campaigns of calumny against his person and government.

He made the remarks in reaction to Lalong’s recent comments against his performance in governor.

Governor Lalong was quoted to have said in an interview that, there was no road inside Plateau State when he took over office in 2015. “The whole line from secretariat junction to Mararaban Jama’re, that is the major entry point to the state capital, there was no single road,” he reportedly said.

Garuba said Plateau people will agree that, no matter what the shortcomings of the Jang administration were, it is by far a better deal to the State than the last 8 years which have not only derailed the development of the state but thrived on blaming the previous administration while doing nothing to match up to what it had done.
