President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his eagerness to hand over in the next few days.
He hands over next Monday to the President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Buhari spoke at the close of the Regimental Dinner organised in his honour by the Armed Forces at the newly commissioned Nigerian Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Asokoro, Abuja.
The President was joined by Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha; the Minister of Defense, Major General Salihi Magashi; the Chief of Defense Staff General Lucky Irabor and the Service Chiefs.
Samuel Docked For Fraud
Enugu based cleric, Apostle Uchechukwu Samuel, has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, for allegedly fraudulently converting the sum of N5.435 million belonging to one Mr. Eugene Onyegbulaonweya to his personal use.
Apostle Samuel allegedly carried out the fraud in collaboration with one Bisiriyu Oriyomi who is now on the run.
Apostle Samuel was docked seven- count charge bordering on stealing, conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretense before Justice H.O. Eya of the Enugu State High Court on Tuesday.
He pleaded “not guilty” when all the charges were read to him.
In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel Ani Ikechukwu Michael asked the court to fix a date for trial to commence.
The court admitted the defendant to bail and adjourned till July 4 and 5, 2023 for hearing.
35 Osun Students Hospitalised After Inhaling Tear Gas Fired By Police
No fewer than 35 students of Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo, Osun State were rushed to the hospital after inhaling tear gas fired by mobile policemen in the early hours of Tuesday.
The mobile policemen, Vanguard learnt, were conducting morning drills at the 39 Squadron Division located opposite the school compound at Powerline area, along Osogbo-Ikirun road.
According to a teacher in the school, who pleaded anonymity, over 35 students collapsed after inhaling the gas.
“We hurriedly rushed about 13 of them to a private hospital around Aderin while O’Ambulance took others to Uniosun Teaching Hospital,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu spoke at public lecture organised, on Tuesday, by the Lagos State Government as part of the activities lined up for his inauguration and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for second term.
The event with the theme: “The Making of a Beacon – Lagos and the Consolidation of a Democracy that Works for All”, was held at Muson Centre in Onikan, where the Governor and his deputy joined a large audience, comprising members of the State Executive Council, top government functionaries, All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts, corporate leaders, traders and students.
