INEC, APC, Tinubu Oppose Atiku’s Subpoenaed Witnesses

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, (APC) on Wednesday in Abuja, opposed the appearance of subpoenaed witnesses of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) to testify.

The respondents appeared unsettled when the petitioners called the first subpoenaed witness saying they were not prepared to cross-examine the witness having been served the witness statement only on Wednesday.

The respondents, through their counsel, objected to the taking of the evidence of the witness who was said to be an Ad hoc staff of INEC during the Feb. 25 presidential election.

Tinubu Seeks European Union’s Support To Fight Poverty, Insecurity

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday called on the European Union to assist Nigeria and Africa in strengthening security and economic development to alleviate poverty in the continent.

In a statement by the Director of Information to the President, Abiodun Oladunjoye, Tinubu spoke during a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council, Mr Charles Michel.

The European Council is the EU institution that defines the general political direction and priorities of the European Union.

10th NASS: I’II Help Tinubu Move Nigeria Forward As Senate President, Yari

Ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly on June 13, former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator-elect, Abdulaziz Yari, APC, Zamfara West has declared that as Senate President, he would support President Bola Tinubu to move Nigeria as a country forward.

Yari who is a strong contender for the position of President of the 10th Senate, Abdul Aziz Yari has promised that if allowed to serve as Senate President, he would ensure that Nigeria comes first while the interest of the party comes second.

Addressing Journalists yesterday in Abuja, Yari who noted that he wishes to achieve this by having a stable Senate and a stable National Assembly, said that he will listen to and pursue the yearnings of Nigerians, adding that his leadership will be democratic, open and serve the interest of the masses.

Subsidy Removal: Tinubu Meets Oil Marketers

President Bola Tinubu, Wednesday, met with major oil marketers at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

The oil marketers were led by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

The President’s meeting with the oil marketers comes amid the controversy and protests trailing the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit known as petrol.
