My Father Is A Silent Achiever – Buhari’s Daughter

Hanan, one of the daughters of President Muhammadu Buhari, has described her father as a silent achiever.

Buhari, who will exit power next week upon the completion of his second term in office, will hand over to President-elect Bola Tinubu, on Monday.

In his last week in office, the outgoing president has been commissioning projects across the country.

In a post via her Instastories, the mother of one shared a photo of the President during the inauguration of two new warships and review of the naval fleet in Lagos on Monday.

She captioned the post: “My father…The Silent Achiever!”

Seun Kuti released on bail

Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti has been released on Tuesday night on bail, from the detention of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Lagos.

The development was confirmed by his attorney, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday night.

“Yes, Ṣeun Kuti was released minutes ago,” he said.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that the Afrobeat musician may be released today (Tuesday) following the expiration of the extension of his remand in police custody, court documents obtained by The PUNCH revealed that the Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, extended Kuti’s remand until Tuesday, May 23.

The document shows that a Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State last week Thursday granted an application by the police for an extension of remand of Seun Kuti until Tuesday (today), to enable the police to conclude its investigation, and for the advice of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution.

Julius Abure Remains Labour Party Chairman, NLC Maintains

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has again passed a vote of confidence on Julius Abure, maintaining he is the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

While the LP has been recently embroiled in a leadership crisis, the President of the NLC Joe Ajaero insists that Abure is the party’s chairman.

The NLC chief was speaking while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“Well, Julius Abure remains the national chairman of the Labour Party. Nobody has conducted any convention,” he said Tuesday.

“There is no meeting nor NEC meeting called which NLC as trustees has attended where any officer has been removed.”

According to him, a convention will soon be held to elect new leaders.

“So, any distraction for people to perpetuate themselves in office is not acceptable to us. That is where we are and it is the position as of today,” he said.

2nd Niger Bridge’ll catalyze prosperity in S/East — Soludo

Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has described the Second Niger Bridge as a fundamental change that would catalyze new waves of prosperity and economic growth in the South-East geopolitical zone.

Soludo, who spoke during the commissioning and handover of the bridge at the Asaba, Delta State end, said he was particularly overjoyed because the people of South East had long advocated for this type of infrastructural development.

President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the multi-billion naira project via Zoom, while the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, Governor Soludo, as well as Governors Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, were on the ground to cut the tape.

The governor, however, listed four other major projects desired in the region, including the dredging of three channels that would give the South East access to the Atlantic Ocean, the construction of the Anambra-Lokoja Road, the gas pipeline, and the railway line.
