The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government for its handling of minimum wage negotiations and expressed support for the labor demand. They backed the Supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy and supported Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid the state’s political crisis. The forum highlighted the achievements of PDP-governed states and urged transparent and fair practices in upcoming elections. They called for President Bola Tinubu to avoid politically biased statements and stressed the need for economic management improvements. Twelve PDP governors and several party leaders attended the meeting.

Osimhen Set to Join PSG on N24bn Wage

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is set to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Napoli within the next 24 hours. Despite interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Saudi Arabian clubs, PSG is the only club willing to meet Osimhen’s €120 million release clause. PSG will offer him a salary of €12 million per year, approximately 24 billion naira annually. The move ends Osimhen’s four-year tenure with Napoli, where he recently won the Scudetto and scored 17 goals last season.

PDP described the judgment as a victory for democracy and affirmed Ighodalo’s credibility as the preferred candidate based on a fair primary process.

Protest against hardship: Zulum meets security chiefs, monarchs, religious leaders, others

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State held a meeting with religious leaders, monarchs, security chiefs, and other stakeholders to discuss maintaining peace amid economic hardships. He praised efforts against Boko Haram and urged against protests, citing the state’s progress in peacebuilding. The Police Commissioner reported preemptive action against a planned protest leader.
