PEPC Adjourns Atiku’s Petition To May 22

The Presidential Election Petition Court, (PEPC), yesterday, adjourned to May 22, for parties to report back on a consideration for consolidation of the three standing petitions challenging the victory of President-elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Citing paragraph 50, the First Schedule of the Electoral Act 2022, the Chairman of the Court, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, directed the parties to report back after consultation on the consolidation of the three standing petitions.

The petition has the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as 1st respondent, with Tinubu, Senator Kashim Shettima, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) cited as 2nd to 3rd respondent.

At the resumption of the pre-hearing session on a petition brought by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 election, Chris Uche, SAN, told the court that counsel to the various parties met and agreed on certain modalities to aid the speedy hearing of the petition.

FG Sacks FAAN MD Yadudu, Director

The Federal Government has removed the Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) Capt. Rabiu Yadudu.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed has been appointed as the new managing director for the FAAN and he is expected to resume duty next week.

The new FAAN boss was until his appointment, the Regional General Manager, North Central, Airport Manager Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport ,Abuja.

He was appointed as the Chairman, Aviation Roadmap Implementation Committee in January 2022 by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, a position he effectively combined with his office as the General Manager, Special Duties at FAAN.

No Court Can Stop Inauguration Of Tinubu_SAN

ASenior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Wahab Shittu has said that no court can stop the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of Nigeria on May 29. Wahab Shittu (SAN) had stated this in a statement issued yesterday in Lagos against the background of on-going litigations and speculation on whether the upcoming inauguration of the president- elect will hold.

Shittu contended that the ceremony will hold as scheduled, without fail. “It will hold because it is a legal prescription arising from the natural implications of the provisions of constitution and the Electoral Act. Inaugurating the president – elect is necessarily a rule of law prescription and no court of law will make pronouncements to the contrary”, he said.

El-Rufai:I Will Sack Workers, Demolish Till 11th Hour In Office

Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has vowed to continue to sack any bad person that needs to be sacked in his government and as well demolish bad structures till the last hour he will be leaving office.

The governor spoke yesterday at a book presentation on him. The book authored by a veteran journalist and public commentator, Mr. Emmanuel Ado, is titled, “Putting The People First”.

Any bad thing we find we will remove so that the next governor does not need to do it again. Watch out till the eleventh hour when we shall quit office, we will continue to sack bad persons and remove bad things.” El-Rufai said.
