Wike Asks NASS Leadership Aspirants To Respect APC

Ahead of the May 29th swearing-in of the President Elect, Bola Tinubu, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has advised him to ensure he assembles only people with capacity, character and track records of performance into his cabinet irrespective of their political backgrounds in order to hit the ground running immediately.

To this end, he is asking aspirants jostling for the various National Assembly leadership positions to work and respect the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the President-Elect to enable the incoming administration succeed in delivering its campaign promises to the people.

Wike, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spoke in Kaduna State on Saturday at a public book presentation, ‘Putting People First: The El-Rufai Years’, where he also commended El-Rufai for championing the zoning of the presidency to the southern part of the country for equity and fairness.

Tinubu Returns Days To Inauguration

The President-Elect, Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria eight days to his inauguration.

Tinubu was received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by APC chieftains.

NDLEA Raids Drug Joints Nationwide, Arrests 534 Ahead Of May 29 Inauguration

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has launched a nationwide raid of drug joints in an exercise code-named ‘Operation Mop Up’ as part of law enforcement efforts to remove enablers of crime and violence in the form of illicit substances and those who deal in them with a view to ensuring peaceful inauguration of new administrations at national and sub-national levels across the country on May 29.

Not less than 534 suspects have been arrested in the first few days of the commencement of the operation, during which tons of illicit drugs including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol, codeine-based syrup, cannabis sativa and various new psychoactive substances among others, were recovered across the states and the FCT.

Top on the list with high arrests and seizures are Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Kaduna, Rivers, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Osun, Benue and Plateau.

Repentant Boko Haram Fighter Arrested For Stealing

The police in Borno State on Friday paraded a repentant Boko Haram fighter, Baba-Goni Mohammed Ibrahim, for stealing. Ibrahim was one of the 110 suspects paraded for committing various crimes.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abdu Umar, said, “Some repentant Boko Haram insurgents hide under joblessness to commit crimes.”

He said Baba-Goni was arrested for stealing eight wrappers and a few other apparel belonging to one Hajiya Lami of Mashidmari ward of Maiduguri metropolis, who employed him as home help.
