Tony Aziegbemi, the state chairman of the Edo PDP, expressed reservations regarding the INEC results for the Akoko Edo local government. According to his allegations, the votes declared on the form EC8C differ from those registered in the IREV.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
He stated that the IREV results show that APC got 25,010 votes, but 34,847 votes were recorded on the form EC8C. He pointed out that similarly, for the PDP, the total number of votes from the results uploaded on the IREV is 18,620, but the figures announced by the Local Government returning officer is 15,865 on the form EC8C.
He lamented that these discrepancies raise serious questions about the integrity of the electoral process as he called on INEC to take immediate action to address these concerns.
He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”We are calling on INEC chairman and on the commission itself to use this window as a provision in the electoral law that gives them the power to review results before they are authenticated.
They should do a review before the final collation and the final Declaration of the results for the Edo State governorship election. Because you cannot have three different figures for the same election, it’s not possible something is wrong and we say INEC should look at it before they make their final decision.
And for the specifics, in Akoko Edo the votes recorded in the IREV is different from the one announced. The IREV results shows that APC got 25,010 votes but 34847 votes was recorded on the form EC8C. Why would the figures on the IREV be different from the figures announced by the LGA returning officer and you have seen an increase of about 10,000 votes for the APC.
And for the PDP, the total number of the votes from the results uploaded on the IREV is 18,620 but the figures announced by the LGA returning officer is 15,865 on the form EC8C. The question is why will these figures be different?
