A 49-year-old man, Christian Iboi, has allegedly killed and secretly buried his 15-year-old son in their family compound at Uhe Quarters, Igueben local government area of Edo state.

‎It was gathered that the tragic incident occurred over the weekend after the suspect reportedly began acting strangely, allegedly following the consumption of a substance believed to be hard drugs.

‎Sources said Iboi assaulted his son with a stick, an attack that allegedly resulted in the boy’s death. He was said to have subsequently dug a grave within the compound and buried the corpse to conceal the crime.

‎The Edo state Police command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Eno Ikoedem.

‎The statement reads: “On the 6th of December, 2025, acting on credible information, operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer proceeded to the scene where the information was confirmed.

‎“Preliminary findings reveal that the suspect assaulted his son with a stick on Friday at about 7 p.m. which led to the death of the boy.

‎“The suspect thereafter dug a grave within the compound and buried the corpse. The deceased’s grandmother, who is also the suspect’s mother and an 82-year-old resident of the same house, provided useful information to the police.”

‎The command further stated that the grave was exhumed, photographs were taken, and the stick allegedly used in committing the offence was recovered as an exhibit, following due administrative procedures.

‎“The suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while investigation is ongoing,” the statement added.
