Troops arrest notorious cattle rustlers in Plateau, recover arms, ammunition

Troops of 3 Division of the Nigerian Army in conjunction with the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, have arrested two notorious cattle rustlers and recovered arms and ammunition in an operation conducted on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in Kogul, Mangu LGA of Plateau State.

Media Information Officer for the military Taskforce, Major Samson Zhakom, who confirmed the arrest in a statement made available to DAILY POST, said the troops, acting on superior intelligence, raided the hideouts of the suspected cattle rustlers and made the breakthrough.

Zhakom said during the operation, the troops arrested the two rustlers and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one fabricated revolver rifle, ten rounds of 7.62 mm (special) ammunition, one mobile phone, and cash.

He stated that the operation was part of efforts to curtail the menace of cattle rustling which often triggers crisis in the area.

According to him, the arrested suspects and recovered items are in the custody of troops for further investigation.

Also, he said the troops are conducting follow-up operations to intercept and arrest other members of the criminal syndicate.
