Troops Neutralize Terrorists in Borno, 18 Confirmed Dead

Nigerian Army troops deployed across various theatres of operation have intensified their offensives, neutralising 18 terrorists, rescuing 14 kidnapped victims, and arresting 47 suspects within the last 48 hours.

According to PM News, a source at the Army Headquarters disclosed the details of the operation on Tuesday, confirming that troops also recovered arms, ammunition, livestock, vehicles, motorcycles and other logistics during the coordinated operations.

According to the source, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion in the North-East successfully repelled an ISWAP/JAS attack around Dutsen Nonu in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State on Saturday morning.

The troops, supported by air interdiction, engaged the insurgents and neutralised 15 terrorists, while also destroying two Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) in the encounter.

The source added that troops arrested two ISWAP/JAS logistics suppliers at the Customs General area in Maiduguri. Items recovered from them included nails suspected for IED production, terrorists’ clothing materials, nets, insecticides and shovels.

Preliminary investigation, he said, confirmed their links to the terrorist network, after which they were handed over to the 7 Military Intelligence Brigade.

In the North-West, the source explained that troops of Operation FANSAN Yamma intervened in a communal clash in Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State within the period under review.

Troops also intercepted terrorists across parts of Zamfara and Kebbi States, rescuing injured civilians and recovering a motorcycle during the engagements.

“In Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops and hunters apprehended a suspected kidnapper at Godogodo village,” the source added.

Naija News reports that under Operation Peace Shield, troops dislodged violent extremists in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, recovering 110 cows and 46 sheep. Efforts are ongoing to identify and hand over the livestock to the rightful owners.

11 Nigerien Migrants Intercepted in Cross River

The source further revealed that troops intercepted 11 migrants from the Niger Republic travelling without valid documents in the Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State. They were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further action.

Troops of 195 Battalion under Operation WABAIZIGAN arrested 33 suspected Aiye cult members during a snap check along Avielle Road in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

“They were intercepted at about 6:50am on Saturday in two Toyota Sienna buses and a Lexus RX350,” the source said.

Items recovered from them included three pump-action guns, nine cartridges, cutlasses, 35 mobile phones, power banks, a WiFi device, two motorcycles and face masks.

According to the source, the suspects confessed to returning from an initiation ceremony in Agbede Forest.

In Taraba, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke rescued two kidnap victims following an abduction incident in Amadu town, Kurmi Local Government Area. Two additional victims reportedly escaped from their captors, while efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining two.

The military source reiterated the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to sustain pressure on criminal elements across the country, assuring that operations would continue to ensure citizens’ safety.
