Victim’s Mother React As Court Sentence Man To Death For Killing Her Daughter

Hajiya Fatima Zubairu, the mother of Ummulkhulsum Buhari, who tragically lost her life at the hands of her Chinese boyfriend, Frank Geng Quarong, has found solace in the justice served by the Kano State High Court. The court presided over by Justice Sunusi Maaji, delivered a resounding verdict, condemning Quarong to death by hanging for the culpable homicide of his former partner.

According to report, Justice Maaji dismissed all six witnesses and evidence presented by Quarong, affirming the compelling arguments put forth by the prosecution counsels, led by the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Haruna Dederi.

Despite the profound sorrow stemming from the loss of her daughter, Zubairu expressed gratitude for the court’s decision by saying, “I am extremely sad I lost my daughter, but I am satisfied justice has been served.” Her sentiment encapsulates the bittersweet culmination of a legal battle fraught with emotion and anticipation.

Quarong’s act of violence, which resulted from a misunderstanding, made headlines. The prosecution outlined the events of September 16, 2022, when Quarong fatally stabbed Buhari in her residence at Janbulo Quarters, Kano. Despite efforts to save her, Buhari succumbed to her injuries at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.

Throughout the trial, Quarong maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to the charges leveled against him. However, the prosecution’s meticulous presentation of witnesses and exhibits left little room for doubt regarding his culpability. The court, guided by the provisions of section 221(b) of the Penal Code, delivered a verdict based on the gravity of the crime.
