Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen will be looking to break the club’s European record when they take on Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League tomorrow.

The 26-year-old scored 37 goals and provided seven assists in 41 games for the CimBom Aslan before penning a permanent four-year deal in August.

He’s found the back of the net thrice for Okan Buruk’s side in seven appearances this season, and will be looking to etch his name into the history books at RAMS Park tomorrow.

The yellow-reds will host Norwegian side, Bodo/Glimt, in the third gameweek of the UEFA Champions League Group Phase.

Osimhen played just 12 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig last Saturday against Basaksehir, after scoring a hat-trick against the Republic of Benin while on International break with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Osimhen eyes European goal record

The former Napoli striker became the first player in Galatasaray’s history to score 37 goals in a single campaign, an all-time high.

He’ll now aim to break the record for scoring the most European goals in a row. He currently shares the record with Burak Yilmaz, who scored in six successive European games for Galatasaray in 2012.

If he scores against Bodo/Glimt, Osimhen will be the only holder of the record. The ex-LOSC Lille man had the joy of scoring against Tottenham Hotspur, AZ Alkmaar, Dynamo Kiev, Ajax, and AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League last season

An ankle injury saw him miss Galatasaray’s opening Champions League game against Frankfurt. He returned just in time to keep his scoring streak alive against Liverpool.

The game against Bodo/Glimt poses a huge opportunity for Osimhen, and he’ll be looking to find the back of the net tomorrow.
