We will never have soldiers on the ground in a civilian kind of event -According to Ex-US Soldier

The recent event in Okuama town, Bomadi region of Delta State, Nigeria, when top military leaders and soldiers lost their lives in an ambush while on a mission, has saddened retired US Army Major Yinka Ogunsanya.

During an interview with AIT, Ogunsanya emphasized the distinctions in military operations between the US and Nigeria. She pointed out that the US usually uses a militarized police system instead of sending soldiers for these kinds of civilian gatherings.

In Ogunsanya’s words: “We do things a little different in the US, there is a militarized police system that will handle such an event. We will never have soldiers on the ground in a civilian kind of event. If you remember the border issue in the United States, there was a big debate about whether to deploy the reserves to the border or let the border patrol do it. But in the case of what happened in Nigeria, I am not too clear about their mission If they had a specific target or area of interest or high-value target they were hunting for or if they were on a peacekeeping mission like I read”.
