We’ve Found Suspicious Items At Seun Kuti’s House – Police

The Nigeria Police Force’s Lagos State Command said it discovered suspicious materials while inspecting the home of Seun Kuti, the son of Afrobeat musician Fela Kuti.

This was stated by Benjamin Hundeyin, a Police Public Relations Officer, in response to social media criticism following the raid of the beleaguered musician’s home. According to reports, Mr. Kuti has been detained since being caught assaulting a police officer in uniform.

The performer has subsequently been arraigned in court and is being investigated by police. Seun Osewa, the founder of the online news site Nairaland, accused the police of harassing Mr Kuti’s family by ransacking their home and seizing his wife’s phone on Thursday.

He claimed that the police’s actions would cost them the support of Nigerians who had criticized the singer’s violent assault on its officers. Mr Hundeyin, in response to the tweet, stated, “During the course of our investigation, we stumbled on certain suspicious things that needed to be proven/disproved beyond a reasonable doubt.”

“As a result, we applied for and were granted a search warrant by the court, which we have carried out.” The investigation is continuing. “There is no law that requires police to investigate only the initial crime.” Police departments all across the world come upon other crimes when investigating a primary crime. “We have a legal obligation to investigate them in accordance with our mandate to detect and investigate crimes.”
