Oluwatobi Oyewo, the youngest son of late veteran actor and cultural figure, Kola Oyewo, has shared details of his father’s final days before he died at the age of 80.
Naija News reports that in an interview with Punch, he said his father passed away on Friday around 6:30pm after showing signs that he was preparing for the end of his life.
According to him, his father had been speaking in a calm but unusual way two days before his death.
He said the late actor often spoke in parables and kept referring to family members who had died, including his wife who passed in 2020.
He explained that his father had a video call with his eldest son on the morning of the day he died and appeared calm and cheerful despite being in hospital.
Oluwatobi also spoke about his father’s health struggles, saying he had been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate in 2019 and had managed the condition for years after a first surgery.
He noted that his father’s health became weaker toward the end of last year, making it difficult for him to continue his normal active lifestyle, including driving and travelling across the country.
He added that doctors had suggested another surgery, but the situation carried risks and his father was not willing to go through it again.
He said the family respected his decision as he felt he had achieved what he wanted in life.
According to him, his father had been mentally preparing for death and often showed concern about being a burden to his children.
He said: “He passed on Friday at about 6:30pm. Two days before he died, he had been talking in a way that was mysterious. He was speaking in parables. My immediate elder brother had been in Ife for a while, taking care of him. His family stays in Ife, so he had been with them for some time. In a way, he was talking in parables as if he was ready to go.
“He kept telling my brother that it was sad that he would be leaving behind such good children. My eldest brother still had a video call with him on Friday morning. They joked and laughed. He was in the hospital. My brother asked Daddy if he was on his way home. He responded that, yes, he was going home. But we later realised that while my brother was talking about going back home to Ife, I think he was referring to transitioning.
“He was just talking in parables. Our mum is late; we lost her in 2020. There was a point when he kept mentioning her name as if she was in the vicinity. He kept saying, “Aduke, mo ti se tan o” (Aduke, I am now ready).”
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
