According to the report by Vanguard, Glory Mainta said that it was very painful to be separated from her parents. She said that following her release, she returned back to school, and that she has since graduated from secondary school.

Mainta said, “I am one of the abducted Chibok girls. It was painful to be separated from my parents. My captors did a lot of things to me and other girls. We were beaten, shouted at – there’s nothing that they didn’t do to us. While they didn’t force us to marry them, what they did to us was worse.

“We were just managing till God saved us. I had to fetch water, sweep the grounds and do a lot of things women are not supposed to do. It made me feel sad.”

She said that she can’t explain how excited she was when she was released. She said that after her release, she was afraid of returning to school, but she had to change schools to be close to her parents.

She said that she feels sad for the other girls who are still in the hands of the Boko Haram. She said that hopes they will regain their freedom just like them.
